PHNOM PENH: The Ad-Hoc Sub-Committee for the Implementation of Action Plans of the Joint Group of Asia/Pacific group on International Cooperation (SIP) has issued a press release on the two workshops and one roundtable organized by the Second Working Group in charge of the implementation of actions in 11th Immediate Income (IO.11) concerning financial sanctions on proliferation financing.

The workshops were organized to broaden dissemination and training on Law on Combating the Financing of Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction for the supervisory ministries/institutions, persons or entities other than reporting entities and the general public.

The first workshop was conducted on 26 February 2022 with 100 participants, and the second workshop was conducted on 28 February with 146 participants, all members of the Second Working Group and officers/staff of seven supervisory ministries and institutions. The two main trainers of the workshop were the General Director of Prosecution and Criminal Affairs of the Ministry of Justice, Pen Pichsaly, and the Head of Secretariat of the Central Department of Security of the General Commissariat of National Police, Major General Phan Sopheak.

Other representatives of the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Commerce and the Cambodia Financial Intelligence Unit also participated in sharing comments, information, and experiences of the Law on Combating the Financing of Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction.

The roundtable was organized by the Second Working Group in collaboration with the National Television of Cambodia (TVK) on 7 March 2022, with the participation of seven speakers representing five ministries and institutions, namely the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Justice, Chiv Songhak; the Under Secretary of State of the Ministry of Commerce, Kim Meas Sok Seiha; the General Director of Prosecution and Criminal Affairs of the Ministry of Justice, Pen Pichsaly; the Deputy Head of Cambodia Financial Intelligence Unit, Ngeth Sovannarith; the Head of Secretariat of the Central Department of Security of the General Commissariat of National Police, Major General Phan Sopheak; and the Deputy Head of the Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Seng Menghong.

Like the workshops, this roundtable was organized to disseminate and raise the level of knowledge on the Law on Combating the Financing of Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction for persons or entities other than reporting entities and the general public, and was publicly broadcast by TVK on 9 March.
